MLK Day of service is a national initiative that Alvernia participates in that is observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
- Date: Monday, January 17th
- Time: 10AM - 1:30 PM (but receive FIVE hours of service for participating!)
- Join us as we serve at various organizations throughout the county in honor of MLK. Participants will receive a free lunch + t-shirt. Please ensure that your Get Connected profile has the most up-to-date t-shirt size and dietary restrictions listed.
- DAY OF SERVICE MEETING LOCATION: All students must report to Kestrel Cafe in Bernardine Hall by 9:15am to check in with Holleran Center staff and receive service location
Please do not sign up if you cannot 100% commit to being there this day. There are a limited number of slots so if you do not show or unregister weeks in advance then you are taking away from someone who could have potentially served that day.
*Teams- If you are registering with a team please ensure that you have all participant names. Any "reserved slots" will be deleted to make room for other participants.
All individuals serving indoors are required to wear masks for the entirety of the event but may take them off at lunch time.
