The Holleran Center participates in the City’s Adopt-a-Block program on behalf of the University. This involves weekly cleanings of the block outside of Alvernia’s Upland Center. With others in the neighborhood also adopting a block, the goal is to improve the quality of life in the surrounding neighborhoods. We are excited to “build a better Reading together”!
What: Clean both sides of the block outlined above. Leave the trash bags on the street corners. Let the Holleran Center know when you are finished and they will call to have the bags picked up.
When: You can do this with a friend, club or team whenever you want during the day you sign up for and for as long as you want! Some may choose to clean for 30 minutes while others may spend an hour or two. EX: You would sign up for the Sunday shift but you can perform the service any time during that day!
How: Pick up gloves, trash bags, rakes, trash pickers, etc. in the Holleran Center prior to cleaning. Supplies are only available for pick up Monday through Friday from 9-4PM.
Where: Right outside outside of Alvernia's Upland Center - an easy walk from main campus!
