Volunteer:  The Holleran Service Olympics 

The Holleran Service Olympics

Ready to compete for a cause? Grab up to 4 friends and create a team of up to 5 students on Get Connected to participate in this fun, high-impact service challenge! Teams will collect donation items from our Wish List and earn points based on the item’s value. The more you collect, the more service hours you can win!

How It Works:
• Register your team on Get Connected (here).
• Collect items from the Wish List (points assigned per item/pack)


Drop off items at the Student Center on Tuesdays from 5-7 PM and on Wednesdays from 11 AM-12 PM & 5-7 PM. We will have volunteers there to count your items and assign you points (Check CORQ/PAX for the specific location and times). 


Service Hour Incentives:
• Every student who earns 25 points will be guaranteed 1 hour of service


•  1st Place Team: 5 service hours
• 2nd Place Team: 4 service hours
• 3rd Place Team: 3 service hours

To qualify for Top 3, at least one team member must attend a packing day:
• Saturday 3/28 | 10–11 AM
• Sunday 3/29 | 4–5 PM
• Monday 3/30 | 6–7 PM

All items will be donated to 2nd Street Learning Center @ Opportunity House, a local nonprofit. As an additional service opportunity, we will deliver the donations and host a preschool activity (for 1 hour). We’d love for you to join us! More details will be posted via Get Connected.

Join us for Packing Days in support of Opportunity House as part of the Holleran Center ongoing Service Olympics Project!

During these dedicated service hours, students will come together to sort, organize, and pack donated items that will be delivered to Opportunity House 2nd Street Location. This is a great opportunity to make a direct impact in our community while participating in a meaningful, hands-on service experience.

Volunteer: Earth Day of Service 2026

Each year, the Alvernia community comes together to support local parks, trails, and neighborhoods through hands-on environmental stewardship on Earth Day of Service. This year, students, faculty, and staff will volunteer across Berks County in celebrating Earth Day through meaningful service projects focused on cleanups and community enviornmental revitalization at Grings Mill and City Park.


Details Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026 Time: 9 AM – 1:00 PM (but get 5 hours of service!) Location: Various off-campus service sites (assigned after registration) Perks: Free volunteer t-shirt and transportation provided!
Schedule8:15-8:45 AM: volunteer check-in 8:45 AM: shuttle departure to service sites 9:00 AM-11:45 PM: service activity at assigned site12:00 PM: lunch 1:00 PM: shuttle departure back to Alvernia

Service will take place outdoors, including trail work, community cleanups, gardening, trail revitalization, and similar projects. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate for outdoor work and gardening activity.
