Volunteer: The Holleran Service OlympicsThe Holleran Service Olympics Ready to compete for a cause? Grab up to 4 friends and create a team of up to 5 students on Get Connected to participate in this fun, high-impact service challenge! Teams will collect donation items from our Wish List and earn points based on the item’s value. The more you collect, the more service hours you can win! How It Works: Drop off items at the Student Center on Tuesdays from 5-7 PM and on Wednesdays from 11 AM-12 PM & 5-7 PM. We will have volunteers there to count your items and assign you points (Check CORQ/PAX for the specific location and times).
To qualify for Top 3, at least one team member must attend a packing day: Sign up for one here: https://volunteer.alvernia.edu/need/detail/?need_id=1220938 All items will be donated to 2nd Street Learning Center @ Opportunity House, a local nonprofit. As an additional service opportunity, we will deliver the donations and host a preschool activity (for 1 hour). We’d love for you to join us! More details will be posted via Get Connected. Volunteer: Earth Day of Service 2026Each year, the Alvernia community comes together to support local parks, trails, and neighborhoods through hands-on environmental stewardship on Earth Day of Service. This year, students, faculty, and staff will volunteer across Berks County in celebrating Earth Day through meaningful service projects focused on cleanups and community enviornmental revitalization at Grings Mill and City Park. Schedule8:15-8:45 AM: volunteer check-in 8:45 AM: shuttle departure to service sites 9:00 AM-11:45 PM: service activity at assigned site12:00 PM: lunch 1:00 PM: shuttle departure back to Alvernia Service will take place outdoors, including trail work, community cleanups, gardening, trail revitalization, and similar projects. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate for outdoor work and gardening activity. By responding to this posting, I understand and agree that I represent Alvernia University at both on and off-campus locations. I agree to behave appropriately and act in accordance with Alvernia University’s Student Code of Citizenship. While serving off-site, I must abide by the organization’s rules and regulations.
