Volunteer: Volunteer Support

Opportunities are available for students wanting to provide support to the fire department!  While fighting fires is something that our volunteers certainly do, there are many additional opportunities that don't involve running into burning buildings!  Interested students can assist with administrative functions, equipment and supply readiness, facilities maintenance, information technology and web design, fire prevention activities, public education, training, and other valuable contributions.  If you have a skill or willingness to learn, we can probably put you to good use!

Opportunities are available for students who have experience and/or interest in serving as a volunteer firefighter!  The Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department is a progressive, combination fire and rescue service that provides fire protection services to Exeter Township, St. Lawrence Boro, and surrounding communities in Berks County. Welcome Guests: Greet visitors with a friendly and positive attitude. Make guests feel welcome and comfortable as soon as they arrive. Check-in/Registration (if applicable): Assist guests with check-in processes Direct customers. Provide Information: Answer basic questions about the facility, services, or event schedule. Offer directions to different areas or organization components. Manage Waiting Areas: Keep the waiting area organized and pleasant for guests. Maintain a positive atmosphere in crowded or busy times. Maintain Guest Flow: Manage guest flow by directing them to appropriate departments or seating areas. Ensure there is no congestion or confusion. Assist with appointments (if applicable): Confirm and manage appointments for consumers, ensuring accurate information is recorded. Notify staff of any changes in appointment schedule. Answer Phone Calls (if applicable): Answer calls in a professional and friendly manner, taking messages or forwarding calls as necessary. Handle Customer Concerns: Be attentive to any guest complaints or needs, escalating issues to the appropriate personnel if needed. Ensure guests feel heard and valued. Maintain Cleanliness and Organization: Ensure the area is tidy and welcoming, including removing any litter or organizing brochures, pamphlets, or menus.
