General Responsibilities:
• Support the mission of Clare’s Cupboard.
• Attend a training for volunteers.
. • Be aware of other resources and organizations available for Clare’s Cupboard users.
• Be punctual, dependable, and reliable.
• Sign up for at least two volunteer shifts per month.
• Practice food safety guidelines.
• Protect the confidentiality of Clare’s Cupboard users.
• Be reasonably accessible through phone calls and emails.
• Give Clare’s Cupboard supervisor at least 24 hours' notice if you can’t make your shift.
Interacting with Pantry Users:
• Greet users with a friendly and welcoming attitude
. • Ask users to fill out an intake form.
• Have a positive attitude and be approachable
• Show genuine concern for all users of the pantry.
• Listen, be polite, and serve professionally.
• Report all concerns or problems to a supervisor immediately.
Distributing Food
• Help direct users to specific foods upon request
• Ensure there are bags for the pantry in Clare’s Cupboard
Inventory and Maintenance:
• Track and shelve all donated food items and purchased items.
• Stock Clare’s Cupboard with needed food items, toiletries, and supplies where they belong in the pantry.
• Sort through food items and discard expired food.
Cleaning:
• Disinfect and wipe down surfaces that are exposed to food.
• Empty small trash bins as needed.
