As a 501(c)3 non-profit nature immersion program, the Guides at Skyline Community School spend 100% of their time outdoors with the students. Our students range in ages from 4-15 and we currently serve 23 students. Next year, our goal is to grow to 40 students. We will be meeting at French Creek State Park starting September 12th, 2022. Our desire is to find several volunteers that are comfortable outdoors in the fall, winter and spring. Our program runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-3:30pm. The ideal volunteers will be able to provide support to our Guides for each of the groups. Support to the guides includes helping with art projects, helping facilitate games and activities, chaperoning students on hikes, escorting students to the restrooms, assisting with building shelters and fires and helping with the campfire cooking. Group 1 is ages 4-8 and group 2 is ages 9+.
In addition to the need for Assistant Guides for during the school year, we are also looking for volunteers or interns to help with some design work such for marketing purposes and some administrative tasks such as helping with mass mailings for our campaigns and donation requests. These volunteers could start ASAP as we have much to do before the start of the school year.
Prior experience with teaching is not necessary. Clearances are required for all volunteers.
