Background:
The AU Physical Therapy Center (AUPTC) at Oakbrook is a student-run and faculty-supervised center that provides free physical therapy services to the local Oakbrook Community. The center is made possible by collaborating with Berks Community Health Center (BCHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). With supervision from faculty, students participate in all aspects of patient care, from initial evaluation to discharge, documentation, and administration task. For the Oakbrook Community, the AUPTC provides access to free rehabilitation services for the residents of this community, of which 21% were surveyed to be disabled and 99% to be living in extreme poverty (Holleran Center, 2012).
