Volunteer: Hospice Volunteer Friendly VisitorSupport a hospice patient through friendly visits. Be a supportive presence by reading, doing a project, singing or possibly just sitting in silent support. Patient visits may take place in the patient's home or nursing facility. All volunteers must submit an application and two references, pass a criminal background check, drug test, and TB screening. Once accepted the volunteer will complete approx. 12 hours of training before visiting with patients. Veterans can also help with our Vet-to-Vet Cafes at local nursing facilities, and our community outreach programs in support of veterans. Heartland Hospice is a Level V participant in the national We Honor Veterans program. Do you enjoy writing? We can use help with our newsletters or simply writing supportive notes to our patients. Office is located in Wyomissing and open M-F from 8 am to 5 pm.
