Volunteer: Track & Field VolunteersAlvernia Track and Field is seeking student volunteers to support three upcoming home meets on December 6, January 17, and January 31. Volunteers will assist with key event operations throughout the day and help ensure a smooth and successful meet experience for student athletes and visiting teams. Keep in mind that volunteer service for our Alvernia community may only count for up to half of a student’s total service requirement. For the typical Alvernia student, this will be 20 hours. Please refer to our Community Service Guidelines for more information. Volunteer: MLK Day of Service 2026Observed each year on the third Monday in January, the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a national initiative that transforms Dr. King’s life and teachings into community action. It’s a “day on, not a day off” and a time to come together in service to others and help strengthen our communities through acts of compassion and justice. This year, Alvernia students, faculty, and staff will join volunteers nationwide in honoring Dr. King’s legacy through hands-on service at various sites throughout Reading. If your student organization, club, or group wants to be guaranteed placement at the same volunteer site, you must register as a team on Get Connected. Individual sign-ups will be assigned to locations based on capacity and community needs. Volunteer: Night to Shine 2026 VolunteersNight to Shine is a worldwide prom night experience for teens and adults with special needs, created by the Tim Tebow Foundation. This event brings together over 300 honored guests and 250 family members for an evening filled with joy, celebration, and community. Guests enjoy a full prom experience including a red carpet entrance, dinner, dancing, karaoke, limo rides, and a crowning ceremony. Volunteers make this night possible. Roles include decorating and setup, hospitality, cheering on the red carpet, assisting with activities, and serving as “buddies” paired one-on-one with guests throughout the evening. A variety of shifts are available. Please review the options and sign up for the role and time that works best for you.
